Tragedy at the Jewish cemetery in Radomsko ! A part of the wall fell down. I asked for help in emergency on FB. Famous Rabbi Lord Isaac Schapira, Founder of the European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative, saw the post and asked His Excellency Piotr Puchta, Director of FODZ (Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland) and Rabbi Abraham Ginsberg, director of the Committee for the Preservation of Jewish Cemeteries in Europe, to go urgently to Radomsko.
July 23rd 2020 : I was very honored and grateful to welcome them. When we arrived at the Jewish cemetery, the wall was already taken care of by the workers of Andrzej Kopiec, owner of lovely Hotel Zameczek, already considered by the Jewish community of Radomsk as a Righteous Among the Nations. The order was given by Mr Mozes and Reb Zaks from London. We owe them a huge thanks.
Therefore, we talked of other projects and I showed them 3 major Jewish buildings in the very heart of the city : the synagogue of the Tzadikim, their house and the beis midrash with mykvé.
With Minister Jarosław Sellin and the “Kesselman Museum in Radomsko”, we have an incredible project for those 3 buildings. HE Piotr Puchta promised that he would come back to Radomsko to speak with the Mayor about it.
Et voilà… On September 2nd /Elul 13th : (on the yurzeit of the 2nd Tzadik of Radomsk, Hessed léAvraham, and of Tzadik Ben Ish Hay) HE Piotr Puchta came back to Radomsko and we had a magic meeting with the Mayor, Jarosław Ferenc. Probably more information in the next Newsletter… !
Later, I made him visit the “Kesselman Museum in Radomsko”, the First Jewish Open-Air Museum in Europe, in the whole city ! We visited about 20 Jewish buildings upon the 60 ones of the Museum. It was a fantastic day !
